Silent Witness – Hydraulic / Tightener [REVIEW]

Neurofunk has exploded in the last few years, partly due to the engineering tools for producers becoming so much better lately. One of the early pioneers of Neurofunk, Silent Witness, is back with a brand new double A-side for us.

The first track, Hydraulic is a nice deep and dark sub with a really long delay on it – making it feel really atmospheric and eerie. The crisp drums then build on top and finally this massive hollow noise comes through the stereo image to make you feel like you’ve never felt before. We can imagine this going down well across those sweaty and dingy raves that happen across the Czech Republic.

The flip side to Hydraulic, Tightener sounds a bit more familiar to those not quite used to Neurofunk. It builds with this really nice bassline that has quite a cool groove in itself. It then builds in to this really crunchy and bouncy groove that makes you want to worm your way through to the back of the crowd for a cup of water and a sit down for five minutes.

With early support from the likes of Noisia, this double single from one of the pioneers of neurofunk is certainly not to be slept on. Out on the 3rd May, you can pre-order it from
